I am a realtor for one reason. I want you to have a better experience than I had myself. Here's what I mean, I've had some bad experiences a time or two with real estate agents in the past who behaved unethically, falsifying documents, and disclosing privileged information to others, To be fair, I've also had wonderful experiences with agents who never said no through the many times my wife and I explored the possibility of owning our own home, and who went the xtra mile, finding us property before it even made it to market. So, when I found myself ready to retire from teaching, I took the plunge and went to school to become a real estate agent myself. Since then, I've been told time and again by clients and other agents, as well, that they appreciate my open and honest approach to real estate. Let me give you a little background. I was shaped as a child by divorce, a cross-country relocation, frequent moves, economic instability, and a difficult home life. I took a lot of that into my marriage, and ended up moving from job to job and rental home to rental home for an entire decade. Eventually maturity caught up with me (or I with it) and I settled down to become a pastor and a public school teacher. Now I am retired from both, but I continue to educate and serve; only now real estate is my subject and my clients are my flock. I commit to serve you and your family wholeheartedly until you find the home you're looking for, or sell the one you've got. I currently work for Heart of Texas Real Estate and Management Company, an independent, full-service real estate brokerage located in Huntsville, Texas. I cannot tell you how excited I am to be working at an local office with a 35 year history. G.K. (JEFF) MARKHAM is the principal broker for MARKHAM REALTY, INC. He has 49 years experience in real estate sales, establishing Markham Realty in 1970. His expertise is primarily in land, including acreage investments, ranches, timberlands, hunting properties and weekend retreats. He is also involved in commercial properties in and around the Huntsville area. Jeff was born in Huntsville, graduated from Deer Park High School, and attended Sam Houston State University (1966-1970) majoring in Agribusiness. He has been involved with the Walker County Fair Association since 1981, serving as a vice-president for six years and pro-rodeo chairman for the first nine years of the event. He is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Huntsville. Jeff feels that Huntsville, Walker County, and the surrounding area offer an exciting future.

MICHELLE WHITECOTTON re-joined Markham Realty as a licensed REALTOR in October 2016. She worked for Markham Realty, as Office Manager, from 1992-1996 while attending Sam Houston State University. She and her husband Tim Whitecotton, Captain at the Walker County Sheriff's Department, have two grown children. Michelle has many years of experience working in Walker County including 15 years at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Michelle is the current President of The Tall Pines Association of REALTORS. Her designations include TRLP (Texas REALTORS Leadership Program), RENE (Real Estate Negotiation Expert), and Social Media Pro. She also has been involved in the rodeo industry for over 30 years. She is deeply rooted in Walker and surrounding counties and her knowledge of the area gives her the ability to find the perfect place for her clients.
